Andrew Repas, BA (Hons)

Andrew Repas Andrew is an Australian businessman and one of the director/owners of a group of companies in the interior design/luxury furniture manufacturing industry. He will be your business guru for the duration of the program. Andrew previously worked as a business portfolio manager in the telecommunications sector in his native Australia, and has six years experience in the telecommunications industry. His extensive experience in a key corporate sector means he is well placed as both a business and teaching professional, and a native English speaker to help Business English students to conduct their affairs in English with confidence.   Andrew is motivated by a unique challenge to help burgeoning and successful businesspeople in Russia and the CIS to not only attain a professionally proficient level of English for their business activities, but also to infuse the instruction with an Anglo-Australian cultural perspective. This will not only give native Russian speakers some cultural insights into Australia and other countries that make up the British Commonwealth of Nations. In short, Andrew finds the challenge of lifting business people out of the Intermediate rut a challenge, and finds the mutual cultural exchange very rewarding.   He has traveled, worked, studied and done business the world over, so he is only too conscious that it is vital to be adequately culturally aware within the national or multinational business contexts in which one operates in order to be successful. Fluent in the Swedish, German and Greek, Andrew knows only too well the challenges that attaining a fluent and institutionally competent level of a foreign language can present. Andrew is a keen student of foreign languages, and has a working knowledge of Polish, some basic knowledge of Russian which includes a thorough literacy of Cyrillic. He can also communicate in other Scandinavian languages since they are mutually intelligible to a high degree, in particular, Norwegian.   In addition to his successful career in the corporate world and as an entrepreneur, Andrew is also a keen and accomplished scholar. He currently studies at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia where he is completing his Double Bachelor Degree in International Studies/History and due to receive his diploma in November, 2008. Andrew is a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society in recognition of his academic achievements.
